Sessions House Art Centre Thomastown launches their Summer Youth Program

Sessions House Art Centre Thomastown launches their Summer Youth Program with a Youth Theatre Camp facilitated by Barnstorm Theatre Company from July 16th to July 20th for ages 10 to 18.

The Theatre Camp is aimed at young people who are interested in drama & theatre. It will provide an intensive and fun exploration of theatre and drama and afford a real opportunity to develop theatre skills and develop self-confidence. It is open to ages 10 to 18 and no experience is necessary.

Each group will work towards a short performance to share with family & friends on the last day. During the week they will look at the skills needed in creating and performing a piece of theatre. The workshops will also encourage the development of confidence & social skills with fun for all high on the agenda!

The morning sessions cater for 10 – 13 year olds and the afternoons cater for 14 to 18 years.

Barnstorm Theatre Company, will run two workshops led by youth drama professional Anna Galligan. “It’s a great chance to try something new or to improve on stuff you already know about making theatre and doing drama” she said of the Theatre Camp in Thomastown.

Sessions House Art Centre Thomastown is a non-profit multi-disciplinary art centre, which will nurture existing artistic activities and provide a platform for emerging artists. The facility will offer an all inclusive, neutral space catering for every age group and practitioners of all disciplines.
 
Among the other activities on the Summer Youth Program is the Guerrilla Sculpture Project starting on July 2nd. Places are still available for 15 to 18 year olds who want to engage with their environment in a new way and create sculptures with recycled and found items. Contact Maura for details (086) 3104008. During Arts Festival a Puppet Skills Workshop will be held for 7 to 10 year olds, including story telling skills and puppet making.
