Kilkenny Food Trail

Taste Of Kilkenny

TASTE of Kilkenny is a new project established to promote an awareness of local food producers and the food outlets, cafes and restaurants that support such businesses. The aim is to encourage a broader consciousness of the processes involved before our food reaches our plate. By creating a food trail, TASTE of Kilkenny hopes to draw attention to the rich variety of delicacies available within the county and to break the perception that good food has to be expensive food.

Whether it be artisan cheese-makers, farmers, small-holders or fine restaurants, all of the members within are committed to delivering a high quality product using mainly traditional methods and remaining as organic as possible whilst highlighting the potential of the county as a leader in high quality produce.

TASTE of Kilkenny invites you to use this trail to discover the countryside farms and city restaurants where you can sample their goods, whether you are local to the area or are visiting on holiday. Please use this guide to contact the members directly who will be happy to cater for your needs. We hope that the trail will help enrich the dining experience in the county, both at home and eating out.

The Taste of Kilkenny Food Trail is, at it’s heart, grounded in the traditions and people of the county. Trail Kilkenny is delighted to offer visitors a chance to experience the rich and varied food culture of County Kilkenny.  Created by the food producers and restaurants of the county, the food trail has 38 participants entities. This collection forms a truly inspiring attraction for Kilkenny.

Trail Kilkenny is a non-profit company established to develop, promote and maintain leisure trails in Co Kilkenny. Combined with the many walking and cycling trails, the Taste of Kilkenny Food Trail offers you a chance to encounter the people of Co Kilkenny and their quality food. New trails are being introduced all the time, so check out our website for the full range.

The Culture Trail showcases the many highlights of our Cultural Programme in Kilkenny's pubs, theatres, heritage venues, on our streets, hurling fields, in our food & pub outlets featuring produce, local craft beers and drinks from the area. If that's not enough, the trail map will guide you to many ways you can immerse yourself in the some of the great traditions of the Irish - from crafting your Hurling skills, to testing your Bodhran rhythm, to participating in our literature readings and trying our Irish dance………..all of which is scheduled from day time to early evening and well into the night.

Savour Kilkenny 'Blasta Taste Trail'

Kilkenny has a great reputation for food and our Trail Kilkenny Food Trail and annual October Festival of Food 'Savour Kilkenny' is testament to that.

Now our Blasta Taste Trail offers locals and visitors a new way to engage with some of Kilkenny's great foods and flavours.

Blasta - the Irish for tasty, reflects a food experience that showcases some of our finest local and regional foods, presented tapas style in small starter or bite size tasting plates. Great value small plates and sharing boards offer a fun way to explore and enjoy the tastes and flavours of Kilkenny and our sunny south east region, where we enjoy some of our finest agricultural and other local produce and creative culinary talents in Ireland.

With tasting dishes starting from €3.50 per person, it's a great value way to have an enjoyable food experience that is different, when taking a break from shopping or the culture and heritage highlights in the city or simply having a dining experience with family and friends.

Sample a range of plates or share a selection with your party in one of our Blasta trail venues or simply experience it as a trail, with a taster plate in each location…. Kilkenny is renowned for it's Pub Crawl, well here's the latest variation - our Local Food Crawl - The Blasta Taste Trail! Of course you are always welcome to try a local craft beer, a glass of wine or a local apple juice to accompany it.
