She first came to the world's attention when, aged 16, she won the BBC's Young Musician of the Year and in the same year (1994) was the first ever British winner of the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians. She is in great demand as a recitalist and, in addition to the major UK venues, she has given recitals in Tokyo, Seoul, New York, Copenhagen, Vienna and Salzburg. Her latest recording of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Vernon Handley, CBE conducting, was released to great critical acclaim including editor's choice in the Gramophone. Natalie Clein plays on the "Simpson" Guadagnini cello (1777).

David Power, Uilleann pipes
Fionn Mac Goillachuda, fiddle
Ciarán Somers, flute
"David Power brings a breathtaking freshness to the set, his fluid, fluent playing as light as a feather." Siobhan Long, Irish Times
The title of this concert "I spent a day in Waterford", is the first line of a song once heard in national schools across the country. Could its catchy melody be influenced by the sunny local climate? Find out as this concert unearths a veritable treasure trove of music with its origins in the Co. Waterford Gaeltacht and the surrounding region. Leading the charge is virtuoso Uilleann piper David Power, former All-Ireland winner and a member of Liam Clancy's Fairweather Band in the early 90s. In recent years, he has recorded two highly-acclaimed solo CDs as well as performing alongside such trad giants as Tony Mac Mahon and Máirtín O'Connor.
Joining David is flautist Ciarán Somers, a native of Mhuine Bheag, Co. Carlow, who is noted for his musical links with Brittany: his recent CD Faoi Bhláth was recorded there with fiddler Dave Sheridan and Breton guitarist Nicolas Quemener, formerly of Arcady. Dubliner Fionn Mac Goillachuda first fell in love with trad music in An Rinn and later returned there to record two CDs with local musicians. In addition to numerous TV and radio appearances he has toured Japan and across Europe in the distinguished company of The Helvick Heads, Dónal Clancy and Gorumna.

J.S. Bach - Goldberg Variations (arranged for String Trio)
The Goldberg Variations are a set of an Aria and Thirty Variations named after the young harpsichordist of the Dresden court, Johann Gottlieb Goldberg. This monumental work was unpopular among players and audiences alike due to its demanding technical and musical intricacies. Glenn Gould is regarded as the musician who gave this masterpiece its merited place in the musical repertiore. In 1985, the young violinist and conductor Dmitri Sitkovetksy arranged the work for string trio, and dedicated it to Glenn Gould. It has been regarded as an astonishing achievement amongst the masses of Bach transcriptions.
Karl Sweeney has performed as soloist and chamber musician in all of the major venues in Ireland and throughout Europe and America. He completed his Masters of Music at the Eastman School of Music in New York in 2008
Having recently graduated from her Master's Degree at the Eastman School of Music under Steven Doane, Ailbhe McDonagh has performed and recorded widely throughout Ireland and abroad. Future performances include a tour of Spain, Italy and France and recitals in the U.S.A.
Nathan Sherman studied at the RIAM and at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Paul Silverthorne. He has played with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the RTE Concert Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Cecilia, the European Union Youth Orchestra, and the European Union Chamber Orchestra and has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He currently lives in Barcelona, studying with Ashan Pillai.
