July 2010 Programme of Events at Kilkenny Castle

'An Evening of Irish, Music, Song and Dance' with Ceoltoiri Kilkenny at The Parade Tower - Wednesday 7, 14, 21, 28 July
Show starts at 8:30pm and will run until 10:30pm - doors open at 8pm

Croquet at The Castle Park (adults only) - Wednesdays 7, 14 and 21 July 2010
Would you like to try a new activity that is fun and very sociable? Croquet is a light form of physical activity, played outdoors on grass by striking a ball through hoops against ones opponents. Instruction will be given at the start of the game.
Times: 3pm to 4pm

Kilkenny City Triathlon - Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlon - Saturday 24 July 2010 - from 9am
This endurance and versatility sport comprises of a combination of swimming (in the River Nore), cycling (in Co Kilkenny) and running (in the Castle Park). It is normally carried out in that stated order of disciplines, with the clock is running continuously during transitions.

There is a wide variety of distances and for the purpose of the Kilkenny City Triathlon 2010, the distances covered will be:

(a) Olympic distance as follows:
- Swim - 1500m
- Cycle - 40km
- Run - 10km

(b) Sprint distance as follows:
- Swim - 750m
- Cycle - 20km
- Run - 5km
